Clark Thomas is a college student who has his life and dreams ahead of him. His world is set until a major accident changes his life and is forced to go through what most coming of age men are not asked to. Clark's world is turned upside-down with this tragedy and the fate of he and his sister, Reagan, lies in his hands. When it seems nothing is left, a turn of events and astronomical occurrences allows Clark to regain his hope, and a new realization is reached. Through this significant change, the new friends he meets, and the challenges he faces comes "The Matter With Clark," an awkward tragedy that is sure to capture your hearts.
Overall, Matthias & Maxime doesn't reinvent this romantic concept. But it also doesn't need to. Dolan weaves a story of love, friendship, and life that is both realistic and bittersweet. The film is nuanced and sensual in a way we don't get to see often with LGBTQ characters. It's a film that we can celebrate.
Overall, 18 Presents feels more like a soap opera than a drama, and I feel bad for saying that since the concept is based off a tragic story (even though it’s loosely). I’m sure other people will find this film emotional for them, but as for me, it’s bland and forgettable.
My Beautiful Laundrette is often referenced as a positive LGBTQIA+ film because our two main characters are in a homosexual relationship with no shame, fear of violence or criticism. The struggle is not their sexuality. It is the treatment of the Pakistani citizens in England.
I imagine that it would be a dream job for an actor to play the parts of twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey in I Know This Much Is True.
All in all, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged is a film I would recommend. It promotes the bond of sisterhood, which in this case is clearly thicker than blood, as well as courage. No one truly knows how strong they are until they go through something unimaginable and come out changed for the better.
