Eight-year-old Imani is a spirited girl living with her grandmother in the village of Alkeboulane. Her greatest dream? To play the djembe, just like her late father— and her brother, who carries on his legacy. But in Alkeboulane, women are forbidden to touch the instrument— doing so would risk invoking a powerful curse. When a relentless drought strikes, Imani embarks on a perilous journey deep into the wild : she must seek Denga, the god of abundance, and uncover the truth hidden within the forest.
