Set in the height of summer in Sydney, Australia, the story follows a unique, intimate relationship between a mother, Michelle and her teenage daughter, Laura. They act more like girlfriends together than parent and child. This relationship becomes threatened when the mother helps her daughter throw a house party to impress new, more popular friends. She gains admiring looks from her daughter's guests. Both of them notice it, and it makes them uncomfortable. As their relationship unravels throughout the night, a much more sinister threat emerges that will jeopardize their bond forever.

I'll never forget sitting in the theater on opening night, witnessing a CGI mouth on Henry Cavill's face about five seconds into Justice League. That's a thing of nightmares if I must say. Overall, 18 Presents feels more like a soap opera than a drama, and I feel bad for saying that since the concept is based off a tragic story (even though it’s loosely). I’m sure other people will find this film emotional for them, but as for me, it’s bland and forgettable.

The audience is taken on this journey knowing the tragic ending but not so much about what led him there. A large topic of discussion is the influences on Elvis that made him who he was as a singer, musician, and performer, which were blues, gospel, and country. Many of the songs that rose him to fame were songs by Black artists he heard growing up in primarily Black settings.
