Swing is an experimental short film set on a nearly deserted beach, where two men navigate the fragile boundary between presence and disconnection. First, absorbed in his smartphone, ignores Second, who is desperate for attention and connection. Their unspoken struggle intensifies around a lonely beach swing—an object that becomes both a symbol of longing and a stage for laughter, frustration, and provocation. Through silence, gestures, and mood shifts, Swing explores our modern obsession with technology, the ache of isolation, and the quiet drama of human interaction.

Netflix’s new comedy drama, Don’t Say Good Luck, is a heartwarming tearjerker as well as a love letter to the transformative power of being a theater kid. Directed by Julia Hart, Don’t Say Good Luck follows Sophie (Sunny Sandler), a theater kid who finally gets the lead role in her school’s production of Waitress - just as she finds out her mom Elizabeth (Melanie Lynskey) is dying of cancer. While the singing is by no means spectacular and Sandler’s acting is stiff, the film is grounded in the moving performance of Lynskey as a mother who wants nothing more than for her daughter to achieve her dreams, even if she can’t be there to see them.
Having Sersi be the central force in Eternals is unprecedented in its viewpoint and focus, from demonstrating a gentle type of leadership, to being overlooked in a group setting but succeeding in the goal at hand anyways, to having romantic options, to strength and integrity, and majority screen time - for a group that's given less screentime than aliens.
Films can alleviate alienation by presenting realities where the viewers feelings are shared by onscreen characters. 'The Little Mermaid" film can be interpreted as a transgender story.
Disney has cleverly managed to dance around the misdeeds of their past by scraping by with an insincere action that does very little to incite any long-lasting positive changes.
Considering the runtime, I expected each scene to hit harder as opposed to a series of montages and vignettes.
