This is not a chorus film. Well maybe just a little… Avignon Festival - Summer. First, there’s Maud and Alex, who have just broken up but need to pretend to be two love birds on stage. Then there’s the playwright of their play, Richard, who could start to fall in love with Léna, but is still grieving his lost wife. Léna is also grieving her ex but can’t remember why she dumped him. So she sings her blues, on stage, with Louise, who might have a little crush on her sound engineer. Then there’s the famous dancer Kate who sleeps with her assistant Marko, who’s always prefered men. Oh, did we tell you that Kate the dancer and Maud the actress are friends and would love to invite everyone to a party?
Complex relationships between mothers and daughters are far from a new concept, whether the strain comes from abandonment, beliefs, or trauma. In My Only Wish, an Incluvie Film Festival submission, Brenda Gutierrez’s take on her character’s maternal divide comes in the form of abandonment.
The characters aren’t likable, the story is predictable and the humor is either disgusting, obnoxious, or uncomfortable. The Wrong Missy is a mess of a film and it’s not really worth your time.
Frozen II is not quite direct to DVD Disney sequel level, but if it wasn’t for the spellbinding animation and budget, it certainly would be.

This is but one of a multitude of highly emphatic questions, and subsequent answers, being asked in the newest feature film from one of the current masters of horror, Jordan Peele ("Get Out", "Us" and "Nope"). I must give Peele credit in that he continues to push the boundaries of specific genres and their associated tropes in order to provide what ends up amounting to subtly then jarringly intense, yet still character and story-driven, cinema that speaks more to indie stylings than mainstream.
