It is not hard to make a musical biopic that pleases audiences and draws a profit.  Michael is no exception. 

This indie short documentary archived the story of a staple rock band as well as an essential part of local history.

"Driveways" is a nuanced portrait of an Asian American family, touching on themes of loss, growth, and belonging.

I came across Urchin by chance and decided to watch it because of the title. It made me think of the spiky animal that lives at the bottom of the ocean, and the old Dickensian novels, where an urchin was an orphaned, homeless child in shaggy and dirty clothes.

'Motherless Brooklyn' is a 1950s whodunit made by its star, Edward Norton. Like most detective films in this setting, the cast is mostly white males (with a few notable exceptions).

Elio could be seen as fantastic piece of representation, showing lonely children who feel ostracized that they are not alone. That is, unless you look behind the curtain.
