Recep, during his first visit to Istanbul, accidentally entered the film industry and made several movies. However, when image creators put him in ridiculous situations, he abandoned everything and returned to his village. On his second visit to Istanbul, he started a small stool manufacturing workshop. Over time, his business prospered, and he became a stool manufacturer. Married and a father of three, Recep changed his original surname, İbibik, to Oturakgil(Stoolson). However, this time, the stool business became a source of trouble for him.
Overall, 18 Presents feels more like a soap opera than a drama, and I feel bad for saying that since the concept is based off a tragic story (even though it’s loosely). I’m sure other people will find this film emotional for them, but as for me, it’s bland and forgettable.

Films staring black transgender actresses/actors are few and far between, it’s refreshing to see a demographic represented in film that hardly gets any attention. This is especially important as the Black trans community has been shown in studies to face the highest level of discrimination amongst general trans and non-binary groups. That is why it’s so crucial that we amplify their voices through any way we can, storytelling being a great medium to do so.
