A few months ago, producer/director Josh Eliot took his cast and crew on Catalina's Great Northeastern Adventure. In the midst of traveling and long days on the set, both cast and crew had a wonderful time basking in the great New England Summer. The luscious backdrop of some of the greatest locations in the country became the scenes for three of Catalina's most recent full length feature releases. Party In Provincetown, Vermont Reunion, and now, Josh Eliot's New England Summer.
It’s the most loving tribute to cinema and to Ingmar Bergman, set in world that feels so habitable that I felt like only re-watching this for eternity, because of how inviting it looks and feels.
The characters aren’t likable, the story is predictable and the humor is either disgusting, obnoxious, or uncomfortable. The Wrong Missy is a mess of a film and it’s not really worth your time.
Shudder’s Host (not a particularly original title, I must say) attempts to bring the spooks to “the quarantine generation” by presenting us with a scary Zoom call during lockdown.
