Sanshiro and Mine, an elderly couple whose factory has gone bankrupt, are taken in by their daughter and son, respectively. Their eldest son is henpecked by his wife, and their sex life is nonexistent. Unsurprisingly, his wife cheats on him. Meanwhile, their eldest daughter spends her days acting in a struggling theater troupe. However, in reality, it's a series of lazy days filled with entanglements with men. With nowhere else to go, the two promise to reunite in Tokyo, a place full of memories, each with a certain thought in their hearts.
