Lines of Force opens with footage of a dramatic explosion. The screen is divided, into a triptych at first, and slowly into horizontal and vertical bars. Electronically manipulated footage from a variety of sources mingle and collide. Naturally occurring lines in the array of images presented mirror the electronically created bars and lines the artist uses to divide the screen; A piece as neon and free-jazz as it is meticulous and concrete.
Earth and Blood is slow, but it still has it’s entertaining moments. If you’re into thrillers, or want to watch something new, then this film might be for you. As for me, Earth and Blood was tolerable enough.

A refreshing twist is that all the kids’ powers are…kind of useless. There’s a kid who can only move in slow motion, a kid who has every power in the world but can only use them randomly, and our main character Missy who has no powers at all. The thesis of the film seems to be that it doesn’t matter what kind of powers you have, its the way you use them, which is good for the warm and fuzzies.
