Not So Quiet on the Western Front
An anti-war film denouncing the valorization of senseless violence, 'All Quiet on the Western Front' is (unfortunately) all too relevant in 2022.

Mylene works as Dr. Lino Broma’s part-time helper. Every day, except on weekends, she goes to Dr. Broma’s house to work. She is married to Edong, a tricycle driver. While at work, Mylene leaves her two children to Susie, her best friend and next-door neighbor. Everything in Mylene’s modest life is perfect. She has a lenient boss, doting kids and a comfortable life. That is, until Mylene’s devoted husband asks her permission to work late nights. Suddenly, Edong starts to act like he’s nurturing a double life. Mylene’s perfect little life is threatened – could her husband be having an affair?

'The Menu' has a strong story. The 5 acts, which are defined by the courses, are an excellent subversion of the classic 5-act film structure.

When you first hear that there is a series on Netflix where the lead character’s wife dies from cancer and he becomes dangerously suicidal, you wouldn’t immediately assume that it’s a comedy.
