A former police officer decides to return to the force to investigate a case that will lead him to expose a big criminal organization in Los Angeles.
The gentle, emotional nuances of Evan’s coming-of-age story would have been so beneficial to have incorporated into the life of a POC character. Showing a Black, Asian or Latino young man that is afforded the space to be vulnerable, flawed and sensitive while driving a compelling and widely-loved narrative would have been a game changer.
The power of a talented female director like Patty Jenkins and an overall diverse cast is what makes this film worth watching for me.
Being made after the death of Chadwick Boseman will be a hard but exciting ride for this Marvel entry.
