As the young couple walk around the kitchen, Sammy (Will Pounder) gushes about his brother, Dirk (Chad White). Angela (Bobbi Dylan) starts to fret, saying it's a lot of pressure meeting him, since Dirk is so important to Sammy -- what if he doesn't like her? They are interrupted by the sound of the front door unlocking and opening. Some shuffling sounds can be heard as Sammy waits excitedly, gripping his nervous-looking fiancee's hands, until eventually a man in a cop uniform, Dirk, steps into the kitchen. When Christy (Jane Wilde) steps out, Daniel (Zachary Wild) is waiting for her with a towel and some fresh clothes. "Dad almost caught us this time," she says after a long pause. Daniel smirks. "But he didn't!" He reminds her, leading her out to his bedroom. "And he never will, just as long as you keep your promise!" Christy nods innocently. She is completely in love with her older step-brother and has been since they first became a family.
Disney remakes have often gotten a bad rap for their consistent reliance on the originals and overuse of CGI. However, Mulan is a remake that is able to transcend beyond Disney's other remakes with a confident and bold earnestness.
The new biopic 'Elvis' highlights the beginning and end of the career of this rock and roll legend. The audience is taken on this journey knowing the tragic ending but not so much about what led him there. A large topic of discussion is the influences on Elvis that made him who he was as a singer, musician, and performer, which were blues, gospel, and country. Many of the songs that rose him to fame were songs by Black artists he heard growing up in primarily Black settings.
While Peter’s heroics might have been a bit unrealistic at times due to his lack of experience, I will always support the civilian taking down the establishment.
The Bluff unravels its mystery slowly, opening on the capture of a ship captain named Bodden (Ismael Cruz Córdova) and the swift execution of his entire crew. Then, viewers are treated to a tranquil British settlement in the Cayman Islands in the 1850s, where a mother bakes a coconut birthday cake for her son in a house suspiciously rigged with makeshift tripwires and burglar alarms. As it turns out, that mother is Priyanka Chopra’s quick witted and resourceful ex-pirate Mrs. Ercell Bodden, and her husband’s captors are on the way to the island to hunt her down for abandoning them and stealing their loot. The pirates of the Libertas land on the beaches of Cayman Brac, and the scenes that follow show a Viking-esque slaughter of half the island.
Initially feeling like a passionate group having a bit of harmless fun with filmmaking, it leads to something sinister enough to leave a mark.
