Animation as a medium of storytelling can be thought to be open to all ages and as I hope my reading will reveal, 'Nimona' could be interpreted as a transgender story.

A magical realist youth documentary series that follows children from all over the world living aboard the cruise ship MS Galaxy, which has been temporarily converted into a reception center for asylum seekers. Surrounded by the surreal contrast of a luxurious cruise ship that has become a sanctuary, Abdullatif, Nour, Laila, and Basel try to find their way in an uncertain future while searching for connection and a sense of home. Amidst the uncertainty of displacement and the challenges of integration, they find solace in the stories and memories they carry with them from their home countries. Two Distant Strangers (2020) centers around Carter James (Joey Bada$$) as he tries to get back home to his pitbull, Jeter, after spending a night at the apartment of his date Perri (Zaria Simone). It addresses the issue of police brutality which rightly has been in the public eye more and more with the unjust deaths caused at the hands of law enforcement.
