Eight years after the disappearance and presumed death of a local boy, a shaken man under police interrogation claims the killer in a brutal gang assault was none other than the missing child himself who is now a violent, ghost-like figure roaming the streets. As the story unfolds through fractured memories and flashbacks, the night of the attack reveals a savage vigilante who spares the witness but leaves behind a trail of blood. With the case reopening and the truth buried in trauma, the survivor must confront whether he encountered a monster, a miracle, or the echo of a boy who never truly died.
It's not love. It's Obsession. The hook of this movie is the tension between wanting to be loved and the fear of being all-encompassed by that love. It plays on men’s typical (though certainly not universal) inner-conflict
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie comes on the heels of its billion-dollar grossing predecessor, and seeks to do absolutely nothing other than repeat its success. In this, the film is eminently effective. If you have seen the previous film, you can expect something extremely similar in this package. That is, a barrage of references to Nintendo intellectual property wrapped in a plot that provides the thinnest layer of emotional payoff for the characters.
Star Wars is better if you believe that Luke Skywalker is gay. You can't change my mind.
This film is a splendid mix of mediums, but its strength lies in its simplicity and beautiful message of closeness.
The plot could’ve really been interesting if the elements of lycanthropy was integrated with perhaps the struggle of identity of being LGBTQ+. It's an experience for so many that as they’re starting to realizing their true selves, they feel like a monster, especially if they come from unsupportive homes or communities. Instead, the horror and transformation elements seem thrown in without contemplation of how this could deepen the narrative.
Despite everything it was capable of, all of these poor choices strung together amount to nothing more than a counter-productive film.
