The 6 Queer Short Films at Sundance 2026
Of the 28 total films I watched, just six of them were queer or featured queer characters in some way.

A newly hired babysitter teams up with a thief to steal the baby and valuables from the house where she works. Doctor Kemal Arıtürk, who lived in the same house in the 1920s, unintentionally caused the death of his baby Latife with his brutal experiments on people and was cursed. His soul has been imprisoned in this house for centuries. The Doctor's spirit, protecting the babies growing at home, awakens to danger. The chase for the transformation begins with the keeper and the thief.

American Fiction is a genuinely entertaining film with a few lessons.
Like all modern societal phenomenons, it started with a meme. This one highlighted that when there’s a mom in a Pixar film, she is almost without fail given striking curves that highlight the bottom half of her body following a minuscule waist. From Elastigirl to the skeletal Mama Imelda, the animation giant’s artists seem to have a fixation on making exaggeratedly curvy maternal characters.
Escape The Field is a serviceable horror thriller. The characters are easier to remember as horror character tropes. As I wrote this review, I only remembered the characters by their tropes: #FinalGirl, #Everyman, #Badass, #MeanB*/SexyGirl, #Realist/BlackLesbian, and #TheNerd.
