'Causeway' Explores Toxic Masculinity Through Its Protagonists
The message to take away from 'Causeway' is that toxic masculinity can manifest in anyone, no matter what their gender identity is.

Danny Brown: Live at the Majestic, chronicles the rise and creative process of one of the most unique, eccentric and acute figures in hip-hop today. The documentary invites viewers into Brown's life and tour days leading into his critically acclaimed 2016 album Atrocity Exhibition, with an intimate look into his life never before revealed. The film was directed by Emmy-Award winning documentary filmmaker Andrew Cohn (Medora, Night School, Warriors of Liberty City) and produced by two time Emmy-Award winning producer Rachel Dengiz (The Punk Singer, Park Bench with Steve Buscemi, Medora).

Seeing that the film was essentially his first big, mainstream feature, and with garnering a leading role — portraying the revolutionary ball-player Jackie Robinson — Boseman, without question, delivered a performance that is still so incredibly moving, respectful, genuine, and true to the core of his obviously sincere, artistic heart; and with that, it is indeed so saddening to see him pass.
(Disclaimer: Harmful Language) In celebration of Pride Month, Father's Day, and father figures (and whoever supports you), I revisit Moonlight's brief but spectacular character, Juan. With overarching themes tied to masculinity, I reexamine his intimacy with Little.

A refreshing twist is that all the kids’ powers are…kind of useless. There’s a kid who can only move in slow motion, a kid who has every power in the world but can only use them randomly, and our main character Missy who has no powers at all. The thesis of the film seems to be that it doesn’t matter what kind of powers you have, its the way you use them, which is good for the warm and fuzzies.
