A Hot Summer Night (2023)
A Summer Night tells the story of Summer (Chuti Tiu), a sex worker and recovering alcoholic who is plunged into a race against time to raise money for her mother's experimental cancer treatment over the course of one night. Because of the enforced isolation of the pandemic, she must seek out a series of clients virtually in order to dance for them – all while knowing that the clock is ticking. Throughout the night, Summer tries to stay focused on her mission while still dealing with the remnants of her toxic relationship with her boyfriend, the threat of succumbing to the lure of the bottle, and the surprising – and possibly life-saving – moments of humanity, as she grows to appreciate the importance of self-love.
