After the death of her overprotective mother, Katya inherits her mother's late lover Andrey Nikolaevich, who has nowhere else to live, along with the house. However, this is not our heroine's main problem. The secrets that her mother hid from Katya during her life, the mortgage debt, because of which she could lose her home, and the mysterious man to whom her mother has been sending large sums of money for many years - Katya will have to figure all this out, and for the first time in her life - on her own.

'Mortal Kombat' Won't Win Any Awards, but it's a Bloody Good Time
In addition to the cast being delightfully diverse this time around, the film was just loosely-plotted and action-packed enough to keep a casual fan like myself entertained. While I do agree that the writing of Cole left much to be desired for an original character thrust into a preconceived universe, none of the characters seemed particularly fleshed out in terms of personality; however, I think that's to be expected when you're watching a film literally inspired by a video game.
"Cruella" is a Disney Retelling Done Right
Overall, Cruella stands above the other Disney retellings. Its dark and bold, and that is exactly what these retellings should be. Emma Stone continues to prove she's one of the finest young actresses working today, and Emma Thompson gives one of the best villain performances in the last decade. The fashion is stunning, the dogs are adorable, and the story is wildly vibrant and original. It's classic movie fun, and it shouldn't be overlooked.
