The Peanuts Movie is a 2015 animated film that is based off of the cartoon strip Peanuts. The movie features classic favorite cartoon characters Charlie Brown, Lucy Van Pelt, Snoopy, and more. It combines elements of 2D animation and 3D animation in several scenes, making the film more eye-catching to viewers. Many characters from the comic strip are brought to life in their colorful, 3D animated versions so kids can enjoy and experience the world within the Peanuts franchise.

This article discusses why the movie has become popular among kids.

The Little Red-Haired Girl

The Little Red-Haired Girl, the new girl in the neighborhood whose name is unknown, plays an important role in Charlie Brown's storyline. Throughout The Peanuts Movie, Charlie Brown struggles with his confidence due to his failures and mishaps. Charlie Brown tries several ways to get the Little Red-Haired Girl to notice him and talk to him. He tries several things like entering his school's talent show and attending the school dance. When he and the girl are paired for a book report, he tries his best to get a good grade for them.

However, Charlie Brown's lack of confidence gets the better of him as he is shunned by the other kids due to a series of mishaps and his bad luck. Despite this, he develops compassion for others and determination within himself, two traits that help with his character transformation. One example of this is when he sacrifices his magic show act for the school's talent show in order to help his sister Sally Brown finish her act. He also sacrifices his newfound popularity, as he knows that his compassion is better than his popularity ranking, which makes him a favorable character among the viewers.

Charlie Brown's storyline is resolved when the Little Red-Haired Girl notices his acts of friendship among his peers and asks him to be his pen pal.

Viewers easily see there is some some diversity in The Peanuts Movie. Lucy Van Pelt, Sally Brown, the Little Red-Haired Girl, and Peppermint Patty are key female characters that appear in the film. Franklin, the first African American character in the comic strip, also has speaking lines and a major role. Despite most of the main characters being white, the cast of characters has a lot of variety. The Peanuts Movie is definitely better than Diary of a Wimpy Kid (2021) in terms of quality and diversity among the characters.

Though Snoopy's storyline is completely independent of Charlie Brown's, it has similar characteristics. Snoopy is inspired by Charlie Brown's plot to use his imagination. He centers himself as a hero who tries to rescue a female poodle, Fifi, from the Red Baron with Woodstock and his friends as his companions. Snoopy's storyline shows viewers that he has an active imagination, which is inspiring. The final chapter of Snoopy's story is titled "Never Give Up", describing how important it is for viewers to keep trying.

Snoopy also acts as Charlie Brown's companion throughout the main plot of The Peanuts Movie, giving him support and love, which boosts Charlie Brown's confidence and determination.

Conclusion

Overall, The Peanuts Movie is a great movie starring kids as the main characters. What makes this film popular among kids is the colorful animation style, the messages on perseverance and determination, and interacting with peers.
