María Guðmundsdóttir is an Icelandic actress, filmmaker, photographer and supermodel. After studying languages abroad, she was crowned Miss Iceland at 19 and gained international recognition as the model “Maria Gudy,” working with renowned photographers and traveling between cities such as New York and Paris. Following a violent attack in New York in 1976 that ended her modeling career, she later reinvented herself as a photographer and eventually focused on artistic projects about Iceland, which were exhibited internationally.
