Jonas Gruber

Born in München, Germany on January 13, 2002 (age 24)

Jonas Gruber is a filmmaker with a focus on character-driven storytelling and socially relevant themes. He first gained experience as an actor in an independent theatre group before studying Theatre Studies at LMU and later transferring to Macromedia University to study Directing. There he created, among others, the short films Ich bin Niemand (Director & Screenwriter) and Knotenpunkt (Director & Screenwriter). He has also contributed to professional productions, including as Assistant Director on Hitlerputsch 1923 – The Diary of Paula Schlier (BR), Co-Cinematographer on The History of the Railway – Engine of Progress (arte), and as a Production Assistant at Loopfilm, Walker + Worm Film, and Fonderland Film. His long-standing voluntary commitment to social justice also informs his artistic work. Since September 2025, he has been studying Screenwriting at the London Film School.
